There is a quality of attention here that one does not find in larger hotels. The light at six in the morning through the shutters — and then the scent of bread from the kitchen — I have not stopped thinking about it since.

Our Story
A House of
Long Afternoons
Built in 1927 as a private estate for a Parisian painter captivated by the quality of light in the Luberon valley, Auberge Lumière carries that obsession forward. We restored the original mas stone by stone, adding nothing that did not already belong here — and removing everything that did not.
Each of our thirty-two rooms is named after a painter who once stayed. Each morning the mistral brings the scent of lavender through shuttered windows. Each evening the horizon turns the colour of apricot and old rose.

In Their Own Words
We have stayed at fourteen luxury hotels across Europe this year for our anniversary. Auberge Lumière is the only one where we extended by three nights without hesitation. The spa, the food, the silence — all extraordinary.
I came to write. I could not write. I sat by the pool every day and watched the light change. I have decided this is acceptable. One of the finest hotels in Europe without question.
The concierge arranged a private tasting at a small domaine that no guidebook mentions. We left with six bottles and a friendship. This is what a truly exceptional hotel does for you.
